Dear Alan & Hilary,
On behalf of South Dartmoor Community College, the 3 staff and 9 boys on
Enrichment Week "Gone Fishing 2007" in particular, may I thank you both, so
much, for 2 excellent days fishing aboard the African Queen. We did get back to school in plenty of time, so "all's well that
ends well" Simon is taking all responsibility for coming back to harbour a bit
late, but he and all the others had such a fantastic day it was difficult
for me to tell him off whilst he has such a big grin across his face ! We have recovered the sea bands that you kindly lent to one of our students. |
Hilary, you may not be aware but you had quite an infamous reputation for your breakfast rolls preceding you, and I think I must have been fishing above the galley's porthole because the smell of the bacon cooking had me drooling with anticipation. Your reputation has now grown as I can now extol the virtues of your culinary skills, a true breakfast of champions! O.K. chaps, duty calls this end so I'd better crack on, thanks once again and best of luck to both of you and for better weather for the summer of 2010, see you then. Regards, Glyn Ford. |
HI ALAN & HILARY,JUST TO SAY THANKYOU FOR A GREAT TRIP AND LOOKING AFTER US YESTERDAY, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AGAIN ON SAT 12TH REGARDS JOE & MIKE
Sorry to be a nuisance - but sent you an email last week enquiring about a sat or sun in April and same in Sept next year - we would like to book with you. We have had very good reports from plymouth lads and some london lads who go with you, not so much for fantastic catches but just because you both look after everyone and make the trips enjoyable which is what we are looking for.Joe
Dear Alan and Hilary, I hope you both are well and had a good Christmas.I know it is early in the year but I would like to book a days fishing on Monday 1st September for George (my Son) and I. It will be our third year on the trot and a trip on the African Queen has become the highlight of our holiday….also George never stops going on about it!. Once again thank you for a fantastic day last year and we look forward to seeing you both later in the year. Yours,Julian
Hi Alan & Hilary Just to say thanks for a brilliant days fishing – and you are right about the whiting, I have just lightly grilled a couple of fillets, served with sweet potatoes, and they are absolutely delicious, a flavour just as subtle as Bass. See you again. Alun Sherwood BA Arch, Dip Arch
This is just a quickie to say many thanks for last Thurs/Friday. Considering the wind and swell I think we crammed quite a lot in and were probably lucky we fished at all. The ‘amateurs’ are definitely up for another visit next year, might even have to do a winter one if you think it is worth it. The food and service was excellent, far exceeded what we thought we’d get, so, much appreciated Hilary for that. I noticed that the weather once we’d left, seemed to have quietened right down (probably still blowing a gale out of harbour), so I hope you get plenty of outings in the coming months and make up for lost revenue over the summer. Incidently, when I got home, I had a shower and nearly fell out of it a couple of times, my head was swaying like mad as was some of the other guys apparently. Was it a bit rough out there, I didn’t notice!! Once again, many thanks and we will definitely see you again sometime. Regards John (crayfish guy)
Dear Alan and Hilary, Just a quick note to thank you both for providing me with best days fishing that I have ever had from a boat trip, The other lads from Brum really enjoyed themselves as well. I hope the photograph turned out o.k.,some doubters want evidence!. Look forward to seeing you both again, I`m sure that I will be able to get some of the Ambulance lads together to enable us to go out as a party. Best regards, Alan
Alan, Thank you so much for sending the photos ! I've been really looking forward to seeing it and haven't been dissappointed !! I will let other people know about the African Queen if they make a trip in the future to Dartmouth. Thanks again and hope you are well, Claire

Hi Alan & Hilary Just a note to say Tim, Lee and I would like to thank you for such a wonderful day on Saturday. Lee had never been to Devon before and he was just like a kid on a school trip. He couldn't believe the peace and quiet after London and he will definitely be back! I have attached the photo for you of Tim with the Pollack. It was delicious. Thanks again for such a great day. Kind regards, David. Pic
